Sala Bistro at Greenbelt 3 – Best Steak in Makati

It’s been a little over a week since I celebrated my birthday. My friends, my sister and I decided to spend the night dining at Sala Bistro. That wasn’t my first time at the restaurant but man, this resto is the go-to place to enjoy sumptuous food and relaxing ambiance. I’ve tried their pizzas, burger, steak, wine and coffee. Everything’s great! Here are some photos. Believe me they taste as good as they look, perhaps better!

My ratings for Sala Bistro – Greenbelt 3:

Food – 10 stars (sooo good!)
Service – 9 stars (a mistake… brought us the wrong food)
The place (ambiance/cleanliness/restroom) – 9 (-1 for small tables but dining at the garden side is oh-so-relaxing)
Value – 9 (it’s a bit on the pricey end but hey the food’s worth your money)

Sala Bistro is located at Greenbelt 3 Makati near Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. If you’re coming from Starbucks, turn right, you’ll pass by Via Mare and towards the bend, you’ll see this awesome place. When dining at Sala Bistro, I always favor dining at the garden-side tables. More relaxing if you ask me.

It’s weird when someone wishes me more birthdays to come…

Just celebrated my birthday last week. Lots of greetings, well wishes and among those is – …more birthdays to come. I know it means well but it always gives me a pause whenever I hear it, like giving you a hint of the unevitable. :)

Very Annoying Barangay Campaigns in the Philippines

Okay, this has always been an irritating (and fits a lot of expletives…) scene in the Philippines whenever there’s an upcoming election – may it be national or local. Today, I was awaken by the maddening and deafening sound of campaign jingles and cars blowing their horns repeatedly a nearby street. It was 7 in the morning for Pete’s sake! Some people, including me, need their well-deserved sleep. It’s a basic human right and these  politicians have no sense of human decency to at least keep these will-make-you-swear-noise’s volume down. It also makes me think that they obviously haven’t heard (don’t wanna call them stupid) of intellectual property rights. The last time I checked, there’s a law protecting those rights and I doubt if they asked for permission from Justin Bieber to use his “Baby” song for such campaigns. Did you?

If these politicians have the audacity to publicly ignore such laws and not to mention respect people who are trying to sleep, then, they shouldn’t be elected to positions. C’mon guys, you should be the leaders upholding laws and serving as the nation’s role models! Have some dose of decency.

On the other hand, I would like to commend those in the position doing a good job. I should admit that the residents of Makati are relatively well taken care of in a number of aspects. :)

Typhoon Katring – Philippines

It’s been almost a year since the unforgettable disaster called Undoy hit the Philippines. Last year’s Undoy disaster was marked with lots of casualties and many lost their homes and hard earned assets. Now is that time of that year when typhoons are threatening to rock the Philippines again. I guess many of us, especially those who are residing in Metro Manila have become weary of such possible disasters to strike again that we have now come prepared (I hope). PAG-ASA, Philippines weather authority announced that typhoon Katring (or typhoon Megi – international name of Katring) may enter the Philippines a few hours from the time of this writing.

My family and I also  experienced the wrath of Undoy last year and every time there seems to be an upcoming one, I always search for news and other info about such storms for obvious reasons. I find this Guam site very helpful and it has some weather imageries which give you an idea of the movements of a coming storm. It’s worth checking out! http://www.goes.noaa.gov/guam/guamloops/guamvs.html

Monday, October 25, 2010 Update on Katring…

HP ProBook 5310m – Affordable, Lightweight, Thin Full-Performance Laptop

HP has revealed its new line of ultra-thin and lightweight laptops according to Yahoo news. See full article here

HP ProBook 5310m Laptop

HP ProBook 5310m Laptop

What caught my attention is not the super expensive HP’s Envy which is way more expensive than the MacBook Air. Not exactly for the common consumers. Five months ago, I was constantly looking for a lightweight laptop which fits my budget but something that I could use for work. I am not a gamer so I did not need a gaming machine with super powers. I got tired of looking and at the end settled for a 10-inch netbook from ASUS. I decided I only need something I can bring anywhere during trips anyway where I can check my emails, go online, chat and what not. I have another high-performance laptop anyway but it was too heavy to bring to trips.

Anway, five months after, the netbook seemed almost untouched by me and I wish I have something better. The EEE PC has just too small a screen and way too slow for me. I now wish I bought something like what the HP ProBook 5310m is! It’s been dubbed as the world’s thinnest full-performance notebook and starting at $699, it’s the perfect laptop for me and I think for many others who live and work online. A 13.3-inch screen is small but big enough which is ideal to bring with you on business trips or even leisure travels and weighing only at 1.72 kg/3.79 lb, no one has to break their backs carrying these laptops.

I think this laptop will surely be competitive as it is ideal for almost everyone – students, the working population, businessmen, others. In short this is a laptop for everyone but its promises remain to be seen as it is very new in the market but I can’t wait to see and try this new lightweight, thin and affordable laptop I was dreaming of.

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown Out Finally

For Dan Brown’s fans, the long wait is over for the release of “The Lost Symbol”. I myself can’t wait to get a copy of this new book. I have read all of his four other books. The Lost Symbol since like a second “Da Vinci Code” from the title itself as his first book also deals with symbology.

Religious critics say that Dan forces his readers to treat myth as facts. True or false, the fact remains the same that Dan is a brilliant author and he has knack of making the scenes and characters in his books leap from the pages and at times make you feel like you’re inside those pages as well. In short very entertaining and that’s why I am buying this book!
